Description
TASTING NOTES
At sight, the wine has an intense ruby red color. The nose expresses itself with hints of ripe red fruits, berries and cola, aromatic herbs and toasted almonds. On the palate, the sip is austere, rich and compact. It shows a sustained body and good acid component. It progresses on notes of dried fruit, with a deep, persistent finish.
COMBINATIONS
Sassicaia pairs deliciously with refined second courses based on red meat or game. Excellent with grilled meat, roasts and beef fillets or with traditional Tuscan dishes based on wild boar.
CURIOSITY'
Sassicaia is undoubtedly one of the most famous Italian wines in the world. It comes from a particularly suitable 75 hectare vineyard, in which the parcels have different characteristics, with limestone formations and a high stony content, a peculiarity from which the toponym "sassicaia" probably derives. The exposure of the land is to the west and south-west. Fermentation takes place in steel, at a controlled temperature, with maceration on the skins for approximately 10 days. The refinement of Tenuta San Guido's Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC takes place in French oak barriques for 24 months, with subsequent rest in the bottle.
